0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

#0202_A_View_From_East_Jerusalem

“Omar bin Al-Khattab Square in Jerusalem during the Ottoman period.

The square is located at the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of blessed Jerusalem. It has a large courtyard containing many historical sites and ancient buildings. It was named after the rightly-guided caliph, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab[1], may God be gracious unto him, for he is believed to have entered this gate when he conquered the Holy City. The Ottomans remained in the Holy Land between the years 1917-1517, a nearly 400 year rule.”
