Haredi Man Recreates the Scene where he was Hit by Police during Demonstration
“Investigators from the Police Internal Investigations Department (PIID) reconstructed the scene where the Haredi man was hit.
Yitzchak B., the young Haredi man who was attacked by a policeman when asked why he wasn’t wearing a mask, returned to the scene of the incident, with two police investigators to reconstruct what exactly happened and how it occurred.
Researchers from the PIID arrived an hour ago (15 July, 2020) to the Shamgar-Yirmiyahu intersection in Jerusalem, together with Yitzchka B. who was attacked by a policeman, in order to try and reconstruct the scene.
This is an accepted legal procedure, and is part of the work completed by the PIID under the auspices of the Department of Justice. This process took place in response to the detailed complaint filed by Yitzchak B. after the incident.
At the scene, Yitzchak B. explained to the two investigators his version of what happened and how it occurred.
Kikar HaShabbat were told that the PIID are investigating this case with utmost seriousness, in order to try and close this investigation as soon as possible.
As mentioned, the policeman in question was suspended from his position, after a camera recorded the powerful blow he gave to Yitzchak B’s head during the demonstration against lockdowns on Haredi neighbourhoods, simply because he dared to ask the police officer why he was not wearing a mask.
After that, the policeman even tried to falsely accuse Yizchak B. of stealing a communications radio and therefore hit him with the device. However, a clear footage from the scene proved that the policeman lied, and the court released the young man from custody because of the false accusation.
Two days after the incident, Yitzchak B. filed a complaint against the police officer. At the entrance to the PIID office, he filmed an interview with Kikar HaShabbat, in which he described the incident.‘It was such a strong blow and at first, I felt swelling. I still suffer from headaches and dizziness. It's an unpleasant feeling, and I’m also traumatized.’”
