Netanya Resident Suspected of Murdering East Jerusalem Man
“Cleared for publication: Naor Bitton, a resident of Netanya, is the suspect in the murder that took place last night [August 17, 2020] in Jerusalem.
The security guard, the drug deal, and the murder suspect: The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court allowed the publication of the murder suspect’s name. The suspect is thought to be involved in the murder of a 20-year-old man in the Shuafat neighborhood .
The suspect, 27-year-old Naor Bitton, a resident of Netanya, was arrested last night on suspicion of firing his licensed personal weapon, striking a 20-year-old man during a drug deal gone wrong. Bitton, a discharged soldier who served in the Combat Engineering Corps, worked as a security guard and allegedly arrived at night to carry out a drug deal in the Shuafat neighborhood where he was then sprayed with tear gas and responded by firing his weapon.
A few hours before the incident, Bitton uploaded a post to Instagram where he was seen spending time with friends at a bar in Tel Aviv and later at a restaurant in the Sarona Market complex. His detention has been extended by a week.”
