Iyad al-Hallaq’s Mother Seeks Trial For Son’s Killers

“Press conference of the team of lawyers in charge of monitoring the martial case of Iyad al-Hallaq [1]”

Translation of Selected Parts of the Mother’s Speech:
“What shall I say … Iyad, in what blood was Iyad killed? Iyad was not just a loved person, he was an angel who walked the earth, I swear on my life he was an angel. An angelic guy, and he was killed by criminal soldiers. […] I’m sure they raised their rank and raised their salaries and put them in a better area. I’ve been tired for 30 years, tired for 30 years … he [Iyad] also did nothing. They snatched him from my hands. This is called terrorism, is this called terrorism? Is this called terrorism?! He is not a terrorist, Iyad has the highest morality in the world. […]
Why did they do that? Why did they do that? […] Is this terrorism in their eyes? A young man going on his way to his way, to his institution and with three tickets on him [apparently referring to certificates of his disability]
They assassinated him in cold blood…
The blood of Arabs is water that is poured into the sewer, while the blood of the Jew is expensive? No! No! No! Our blood is very precious, just as the Jews educate, so Arabs educate […] I am tired, tired, and I blame them, I blame them … They say ‘terror’, they are terror! Wherever they are, they are terrorism. […]
I have a demand – I request, request, and request again, that the soldiers who killed Iyad, 3 to the best of my knowledge, be tried. As the Arab is judged – immediately, so too the soldier who killed be judged and get to where he deserves. This is a killer and this is a killer. You throw the Arab killer straight into prison [and impose] life sentences, but you make the Jewish killer happy and raise his position. This is injustice, it’s an injustice. […]”
