Plea For Police to Be More Understanding Towards Small Business Owners During Corona
"Dear police officers,
Did you look into his [Zion's] eyes today [July 8, 2020], when you ordered Zion, the bread baker at ‘Haba’ Bakery [in the Shuk], for a police hearing because for a moment his mask was under his nose (it’s hot in the bakery and there’s no air conditioner, Zion is old and he washed his face for a moment)?
Do you look at us, the self-employed, who are fighting until the last breath (for the second time), in the white of our eyes before you take away our income?
The world has changed. We are together in this story. If the business sector collapses, the whole country will collapse. We will become a third world country and people will not have anything to eat here. This is not the time for tickets, fines and hearings. It's time to help small businesses, to help each other and bring about connection and meaning rather than disconnection and separation. I wish there was someone who could hear this faint scream because I have also ran out of strength to shout.
I would love if you could share this post.
* Edit: Zion's family reported that the fine was paid for with the help of good people. To buy from the ‘Cocoa Forest’, my chocolate factory: go here: https://yaaracacostore.com/ "
