0202 Editor’s Note:
[1] Palm Sunday, or Sunday Palm, is a Christian holiday on the Sunday before Easter. The holiday marks Jesus entering Jerusalem a few days before the Passion. The holiday is the first in a series of festivals that take place the week before Easter, the holy week, which marks the end of the fast season.
[2] A-Tur is an Arab neighborhood on the Mount of Olives approximately 1 kilometer east of the Old City of Jerusalem. At-Tur is situated in East Jerusalem, which was annexed by Israel after the 1967 war.
[3] Lions’ Gate is a gate in the walls of the Old City in Jerusalem. It is one of seven open gates in the Eastern Wall.
[4] Mount of Olives, or Mount Olivet, is a mountain ridge east of, and adjacent to, Jerusalem’s Old City. The mountain is important in the Christian tradition since it relates to several key events in the life of Jesus. Aditionally, in the Acts of the Apostles, it is described as the place from which Jesus ascended to heaven.
[5] Gethsemane is the garden where, according to Christian tradition, Jesus prayed his last prayer on the night before his crucifixion.
[6] Hosanna in Hebrew means, “Save, rescue, savior” and it is used in the Gospel as a shout of jubilation.
