“Anger in HaPoel Jerusalem B.C: Even Winning isn’t Possible with a Smile
In spite of the precious score of 98:92 versus Maccabi Tel Aviv, the red club were furious after having to deal with a fan protest and someone spitting on the CEO Guy Har’el, who is considering suing the spitting fan.
Yesterday, HaPoel Jerusalem, in it’s first victory of the season won against Maccabi Tel Aviv, 98:92… A victory that will allow the reds [HaPoel Jerusalem] to reopen the struggle against the yellows [Maccabi Tel Aviv] and HaPoel Holon for hosting the Final Four match.

In spite of the quality sportsmanship exhibited on the parquet floors in the battle between the two giants of Israeli basketball, the ongoing protest of the fans, and the conflict between the HaPoel Jerusalem’s management, and its CEO Guy Har’el, and the fans club, the ‘Malha Brigade’, that lately has been boycotting the teams matches, was center stage once again. The red fans held up signs against the management that read: ‘HaPoel Belongs to the Fans, We Are Not Maccabi! Down with Dictatorship! We Want the Brigade in the Stands!’ and, ‘There’s no HaPoel without the Brigade!’.
[…] The event reached its climax when, at the end of the game, on the way to the dressing rooms, while some of the fans shook his hand, one fan spat on the CEO Guy Har’el. The fan was arrested by the police, and Har’el is considering his course of actions and might sue the fan.

A few minutes after he was spat on, Har’el returned to the court and tried to talk to the fans that protested because of the conflict between the CEO and the ‘Brigade’, and blamed him for the fact that ‘Brigade’ members had failed to show up at the game, he said to them: ‘No one told them (the ‘Brigade’) not to come here, it was there decision not to come.’”
