Following the decision of the Jerusalem Municipality to transfer the handling of a building permit for the construction of the ‘mixed prayer area’ for all streams of Judaism, discussions were renewed by the Regional Planning and Building Committee, which operates under the Ministry of Finance.

On Monday, the committee convened to renew a building permit for a mixed prayer area at the Western Wall – the 'Ezrat Israel' plaza. This is a building permit that must be renewed. This issue did not arise in discussions at the local planning and building committee of the Jerusalem Municipality after they transferred the responsibility to the district committee. […]” [1]

[1] ] Following a long legal and public awareness battle, liberal Jews have had the right, granted by the State of Israel, to pray in the southern section of the Western Wall plaza. There are ongoing discussions to widen and fortify the area.
