Shuafat Refugee Camp without Electricity [1]

“Shuafat Refugee Camp is without electricity following the explosion of a transformer; work to repair it is still underway.”

– Anata News

[Selected Comment:]

– “Electric company, why do transformers not explode in Jewish areas? Or do you just take us [Palestinians] for fools and fine us for stealing electricity? They want to fine me 5000 shekels, while my refrigerator that was worth 8000 shekels broke because of how often the electricity disconnected.”

0202 Editor’s Note:
[1] The Shuafat Refugee Camp is a Palestinian refugee camp within the Jerusalem jurisdiction located next to Shuafat, a Palestinian Arab neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The camp is located outside the separation wall, but technically, the Shuafat refugee camp falls under the jurisdiction of the Jerusalem municipality. It is thus the only Palestinian refugee camp located in Jerusalem.
