“This picture is of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. He was sentenced to a year and a half in prison. Ehud Olmert served in the Israeli army for seven years from ’63 to ’71, as a minister from the years 1988 to 1993, as Mayor of Tel Aviv [1] from 1993 to 2003, and from 2003 to 2006 to serve as deputy prime minister. In 2006, he became prime minister and served continuously until 2009.

In 2009, the Prosecutor General revealed he accepted bribes while he was mayor between 1993 and 2003. His case went on before the courts until 2016 when the verdict ended with his conviction, imprisonment and a fine of the amount of the bribery. No one says Olmert is a holy warrior, a red line, or is a target. None of his supporters came out in defense of him, there was no outcry against this and no collection of signatures for him.

They simply told him: ‘Go away, you corrupt wretch!’

This is the reason they keep on winning and we always lose. We worship and defend and rationalize those who steal from us and they throw them in prisons.”
