0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

#0202_A_View_From_East_Jerusalem

"Even though she is ill, Occupation forces arrested Linda Abidin today after Friday prayers in the Bab Al-Majlis area [1] in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem."

– Al-Quds News Network

[Selected comments:]
– "Let's see how you escalate this story on Facebook with your slogans like you did with Ahed Tamimi [2]."
– "Unfortunately the Occupation is arresting women in their neighborhoods, and the only thing the resistance organizations are doing about it is making empty threats… as long as you [the resistance organizations] are not being real men, give your weapons to the people and we will defend ourselves!"
– "And Arab [countries] still want normalization! God help us… [3]"
– "Twenty soldiers on one girl! God help her."

0202 Editor's Note:
[1] Bab Al-Majlis (the 'Council Gate') is one of the gates in the Old City of Jerusalem leading to the Al-Aqsa/Temple Mount complex.
[2] Ahed Tamimi is a 16-year-old girl who has been arrested following a viral video showing her taking on Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.
[3] The normalization of day-to-day life with Israel is a major source of ideological concern for some Palestinians out of fear that by failing to acknowledge the occupation, it compromises Palestinian identity and national struggle. The issue of normalization here refers to the concept of coming to a peace agreement with Israel, thus acknowledging Israel's right to exist as a State and making its presence 'normal', which many Palestinians are opposed to.
