0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

“Once more lecturers are protesting at the university, and who stands against them?
This time our movement’s activists consciously chose not to stand up to them nor answer back to them. Additionally, the students didn’t ask questions, nor did they join them nor protest against them. [1]
A simple explanation?
These radical lecturers are of no interest to any of the students, and that is the simple truth. Extreme views, voiced after 26 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel last night, after a soldier lost his life last Saturday, are simply looked down upon.
The student is captive to these opinions in classes, but at demonstrations, you will not see them sitting and listening to these opinions.
Shame on academia, good for the students.”

– Im Tirzu, Hebrew University Chapter [2]
0202 Editor’s note:
[1] Lectures and students protested the Israeli siege over Gaza on the Hebrew University Mt. Scopus campus in concurrence to the current events on the border.
[2] Im Tirtzu is a Zionist non-governmental organization that claims to "strengthen and advance the values of Zionism in Israel" and is dedicated to shedding light on "the campaign of delegitimization against the State of Israel”. The NGO is active in many universities in Israel. In 2008, Im Tirtzu published a report about anti-Zionist bias in the syllabuses used in various academic departments in Israel.
