#0202_A_View_From_East_Jerusalem

“I do not understand why we are paying municipal taxes… Infrastructure in the villages of Jerusalem is horrible… Floods [1]…Flooded houses…Property destroyed… May God help.
The video is from Silwan village”

– Facebook Group ‘Ask Jerusalem’

[Selected comments:]

-“That’s normal, there was damage everywhere.”
-“May God help.”
-“Tel Aviv has been flooded, there are malls where the roof collapsed and the financial damage amounts to millions. The problem is not only in Jerusalem.”
-“We Arabs pay everything, fines, municipal taxes, etc., so that infrastructure for the Jews will be good.”
-“We pay to take care of the settlers and provide them with public services when we have nothing.”
-“Then refuse to pay municipal taxes until the streets are repaired.”
-“This is the case in all areas of Israel – in Jerusalem, in the West Bank, in Rishon Letzion, in the Negev, in the north and in the south… Every small flood completely messes up Israel.”

0202 Editor’s Note:
[1] Over 25-27 April, Israel experienced heavy storms and rainfall that were out of character for the usually warm and dry spring. The storms led to flooding in some citities, as well as lethal flash flooding in desert and mountain areas.
