"The A-Thawri-Silwan Women's Center held a Jerusalemite Women's Art Festival
On Wednesday, the A-Thawri-Silwan Women's Center opened the second female women's art festival in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Culture. As part of the festival, there was an exhibition of handmade crafts made by Jerusalemite women, in the presence of Nasser Katami, Chairman of the Arab Funds, Asmaa Kilani, Director of the Gender Department at the Ministry of Culture, and Abeer Ziyad, Head of the Management Department of the A- Thawri – Silwan Women's Center.
Thirty Jerusalemite women participated in the crafts exhibition, with various art including embroidery, handicrafts, paintings, sweet pastries, sewing, knitting, natural soaps, natural lotions and other women-made crafts.
In addition, the festival opened with performances by women. The Jerusalemite poet Amna Hamdan read her poem about the Jerusalemite woman and her poem for the prisoners. The Jerusalemite poet Rania Hatem read two extraordinary pieces of poetry about mothers and wives. In addition, the Sufraa Al-Quds folk band performed in two performances of the popular [traditional] Debka dance, and the Jerusalemite singer Nafin A-Sawi performed a national song […]"
