#0202_A_View_From_East_Jerusalem

“Pictures: A ceremony honoring the families of martyrs and prisoners in the Qalandiya Refugee Camp [1] north of the occupied city of Jerusalem. The ceremony was organized by the Fatah [2] movement this evening [Tuesday] on the occasion of Palestinian Prisoner Day in the camp.
Freedom for our brave prisoners, and glory and eternal life for our pious martyrs.”

– Qalandiya Media Center

0202 Editor’s Notes:
[1] The Qalandiya Refugee Camp is a Palestinian village located in the West Bank, between Jerusalem and Ramallah.
[2] Fatah is a Palestinian nationalist political party and the largest faction in the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) coalition. In the 2006 parliamentary election, Fatah lost its majority in the Palestinian parliament to Hamas. This lead to a deadly conflict between Fatah and Hamas. However, Fatah did retain control of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.
