“We congratulate the residents of the town of Beit Safafa [1] on their great accomplishment of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This mountain lies in Tanzania, Africa, and its peak is 5895 meters high; the climb up to the summit lasted for four days. The Beit Safafa [climbing] team members were: the great teacher Duaa Subhi, Samer Al-Atham and Mohammad Al-Atham.
Over the course of their four-day climb, the team trekked 72 kilometers; they performed an eleven- hour night climb up a steep slope in a snow storm at an elevation with very little oxygen. The team was climbing for the Palestinian cause, and most of the team members were able to reach the highest peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Our respect goes out to team, and we are so proud to have people like them from our town [Beit Safafa] who make our nation proud.”
