“Construction begins on a bypass road for buses along the racist separation barrier.

Occupation forces began construction work on a bypass road for [Palestinian] buses alongside the racist separation barrier on the land of the [Palestinian] town of Qalandiya. The new bypass road will eventually be connected to existing bus routes that travel to the Qalandiya military checkpoint [1].

Occupation forces distributed notices to residents of the town, asking them to move their cars out of the vicinity of construction, in order for the work to run smoothly.”

[1] The Qalandiya checkpoint is the main checkpoint between the northern West Bank and Jerusalem. The checkpoint is used by the Israeli military to control Palestinian access to East Jerusalem and Israel. Israel requires Palestinians to have permits in order to pass through the checkpoint to East Jerusalem and Israel for their work, medical care and education, or for religious reasons.
