"Medical consultant turned Rabbi.
Excitement in Vizhnitz [1]: The Admor [2] of Vizhnitz Jerusalem will come to Israel and conduct a Tish [3] on Shabbat, with the participation thousands of followers.

The Admor of Vizhnitz Jerusalem Rabbi Eliezer Hager, the son of the Admor of Vizhnitz of Monsey of blessed memory, will come to Israel on his first visit since he was appointed Rebbe after his father's death.
The new rabbi, who is a leading medical advisor in the United States and a chaplain at the Manhattan Mount Sinai hospital, will lead the community in Jerusalem.

'Bechadrei Haredim' learned that the Gabba'im [4] of the new Rebbe will be Rabbi Moshe Sharaf and Rabbi Chaim Meir Filip. The Gabba'im who will stand at the Tish beside the Rebbe will be Rabbi Leibel Schwimmer and Rabbi Shlomo Appel."

0202 Editors Notes:
[1] Vizhnitz is the name of a Hasidic dynasty founded by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager. The Hasidic movement was founded by Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov in the 17th century. Hasidism is a Jewish religious-spiritual movement that focuses on the refinement of personal character, and prayer, rather than purely academic study of Jewish texts.
[2] Admor is a Hebrew acronym for the words 'Adoneinu, Moreinu, Ve'Rabbeinu' – Our master, our teacher, and our Rabbi. It is an honorific used to refer to learned Rabbis or leaders of Hassidic communities.
[3] Tish – A tish (literally 'table' in Yiddish) is a gathering of Hasidim around their Rebbe. A tish includes speeches on Torah subjects, singing Hassidic melodies known as niggunim, and refreshments.
[4] Gabba’im – A Gabbai (singular) is a Hassidic Rebbe's assistant and confidant. This is a prestigious position within a Hassidic court.
