"Following the traffic chaos in Jerusalem during the holiday: MK Rabbi Eichler: 'Collective punishment of the Haredi public.'

Following major traffic chaos during the holiday in Jerusalem, MK Rabbi Yisrael Eichler, Chairman of the Public Inquiries Committee, announced to representatives of the police and the Ministry of Transport that the committee will convene soon and they will be summoned to, what he called, a 'public hearing' to give answers to the 'total collapse of public transportation to the Western Wall.'

'The public felt that the secular regime had found a foolish way for the collective punishment of the entire ultra-Orthodox public because of the [recent frequent, often perceived as disruptive] Haredi demonstrations. Tens of thousands of worshipers make their way, via public transportation, to the Western Wall and they don't even receive the minimal necessary services,' said MK Rabbi Yisrael Eichler.

The police responded to the publication of accusations by MK Rabbi Eichler saying that 'as far as the police are concerned, nothing was done to prevent buses from entering the Western Wall.'"
