Ras Khamis is a neighborhood in Shuafat refugee camp. Shuafat RC was established in 1965 by UNRWA for Palestinian refugees from 1948, and after the 1967 war it was annexed to the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem and became the only Palestinian refugee camp in the territory of the State of Israel.

Over the years, a number of other neighborhoods have developed around the refugee camp: Ras Khamis, Ras Shehadeh and Dahiyat a-Salam. These neighborhoods together with the refugee camp constitute one complex.
