Report: Haredi Members of Knesset [Parliament] are convincing Minister Elkin to run for mayor of Jerusalem.

"The Minister has recently met with MKs from the ‘Torah Judaism’ party. According to Knesset members, the initiative was on his part, but the Likud party [1] claims that the Haredim are urging him to run: "Their support is clear, the question is only whether Elkin agrees or not," says a source close to Minister Elkin.

Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and Environment Zeev Elkin, who is considering running for mayor of Jerusalem, held talks with Haredi MKs from the ‘Torah Judaism’ party last week regarding their support for him. This was reported on ‘Reshet Bet’.

According to some Haredi MKs, the initiative for the talks was Elkin's, and it was intended to examine whether the Hardedi parties would support his candidacy if he decided to run for office. Conversely, there are those in the Likud party who claim that the initiative for the talks came from the Haredim, and that this is their initiative and they want to see Elkin run for the position.
"The question is not whether the Haredi MKs will support Elkin as mayor of Jerusalem," the Likud members said, "not only will they support him, they are also urging him to run. The question is whether Elkin will agree to this or not. "Both sides confirmed the existence of the talks between them.
