[1] Al-Wad Street is located a short distance from the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem through Damascus Gate.The struggle on Al-Wad Street is a political one. The street is politically and religiously significant for Palestinians because it is used by worshipers from outside the Old City and the Muslim Quarter to get to prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The street is likewise important for Israel and settler organizations who wish to create a Jewish presence on this road as it accesses the Western Wall.
