"Occupation issues eviction notice to residential building south of Al-Aqsa
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center reported on Sunday that the Ateret Cohanim settlement organization issued a legal notice to the children of the late Sa'id Odeh demanding the land on which they built their residential building, located in the neighborhood of Baten Al-Hawa (the central neighborhood in the town of Silwan), south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
This is part of the combined efforts of the settlement associations and Occupation institutions to displace the inhabitants of the neighborhood and completely judaize it.
The court order gave the family members 30 days to vacate the land on which the building was built. Meanwhile, the neighborhood defense committee will go to a specialized lawyer to issue an injunction on the eviction order to prove ownership of the land.
The Ateret Cohanim association claims that the land on which the Odeh family built in Baten Al-Hawa has belonged to the Jews since 1889, while residential neighborhood committee member Yacoub Rajabi explained that the court order was given to the late Odeh widow, the children and their spouses, demanding the land on which their four-story residential building was built. Fifty people live in the building, he clarified, mostly children under the age of eighteen."
