0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

“Gilad and I went through a very complex day with regard to the Purim celebrations. [1] This photo below is not representative of what really happened. [2]
Purim is the craziest party of the year in Jerusalem, if not in all of Israel, and its status as craziest party, was all thrown out the window today due to the negligence and stubbornness of certain parties. It is very tiring to work so hard on an event, so this is an opportunity to thank Gilad Starik, who worked more than 24 hours onsite in light of the repeated mishaps in order to try to get this event to happen regardless. I will not elaborate here on what precisely took place, but I will say that I am just upset today that all the hard work did not result in the most beautiful and special party on the Jerusalem calendar. I hope we will see happier days…
A huge thank you to everyone for the hugs, all those that sent words of encouragement and understanding or even sent a message. Those who know me, know how important the events I produce are to me, and that everything has to be on-point, however, because of certain events, we did not dance in Nachlaot today, except for those 40 minutes of happiness.
The photograph was taken by Avital Hirsch.”

0202 Editor’s note:
[1] Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. This took place in the ancient Achaemenid Persian Empire. Some of the customs include drinking wine or any other alcoholic beverage, wearing of masks and costumes, and public celebration
[2] The Nachlaot neighbourhood is known for hosting an annual Purim street party. These celebrations were cut short this year under the direction of the Israel Police.
