Digest on Price Tag Vandalism in Beit Safafa

"Settlers vandalized residents' properties and sprayed racist graffiti on walls and cars in Beit Safafa in occupied southern Jerusalem."

– Nawres News on Twitter

[From the video:]
"Good morning from Beit Safafa… Price Tag [1] and burning cars…"
[The graffiti:] "Death to Arabs | Price Tag revenge"

"This is how people try to stir up conflict between Arabs and Jews in the quietest place in Jerusalem, Beit Safafa…"

– Yaacov Maoz

"Jerusalemite residents of Beit Safafa woke up this morning to a racist hate crime, occasionally referred to as a 'Price Tag' [crimes]. It's distressing that these petty crimes happen in the heart of Jerusalem. This is a challenge that all of Jerusalem society needs to learn to overcome in order to create a shared life here in the shadow of a shitty situation, while politics of hatred and fear are being thrown at us from above."

– Eran Tzidkiyahu

"Last night in Davos, President Trump explained that, 'the Jerusalem issue has been removed from the table.' This morning, the residents of Beit Safafa woke up to another hate crime. A car had been set on fire and then graffiti-ed with, 'Death to the Arabs.'"

– Ir Amim

0202 Editor's Note:
[1] Price Tag policy is a term for acts of vandalism by Jewish fundamentalist settler youths, aimed at the Palestinian population, Christians, left-wing Israeli Jews, Arab–Israelis, and the Israeli security forces. These actions, in which the phrase "price tag" appeared in graffiti, began in 2008.
