0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

“About a year ago, I was the only person in the city council building who put up Trump's presidential campaign banners on the windows and doors of the city hall. Mayor Nir Barkat remained silent during the entire period and did not comment in public or in private in support of the candidate Donald Trump, who fought against the hater of our people and our homeland – Hillary Clinton.
A week ago, I asked Yael Antebi, the chairwoman of the ‘city signs and names’ committee, to work to promote the naming of one of Jerusalem's streets after Donald Trump. As a British citizen, I recommend replacing King George Street [1] with President Trump Street.”

– Council Member Arieh King [2]

0202 Editor’s Notes:
[1] King George Street is one of Central Jerusalem's main thoroughfares, named during the British Mandate period before the establishment of the State of Israel.
[2] Arieh King is an Israeli right-wing activist, founder of the Israel Land Fund, and a front-running leader of Jewish settlement in East Jerusalem. He is also an outspoken member of Jerusalem's municipal council.
