0202 – Points of View from Jerusalem

#0202_A_View_From_East_Jerusalem

"An important announcement to the residents of Ras Khamis, Shu'afat refugee camp, Dahiyat A-Salam, Ras Shehadeh and Anata:

Any person who is handicapped can contact me so that we can apply for him so that he can pass by car in the express bus lane without getting searched at the refugee camp checkpoint.

Thanks."
– Shuafat Refugee Camp State

[Selected comments:]

-"All respect Abu Muhammad, and what about someone who does not have a car?"

-"Well, what about cars with babies?"

– "Now the whole refugee camp will become disabled."

– "Well done to everyone who works for the benefit of the refugee camp residents, but why doesn't the Occupation government open the checkpoint to everyone and make it easier for them, or does it want people to be happy because it made things easier for the disabled?. Our women get off the bus in the cold, and leave their children on the bus. Even the men are upset because they have to get off the bus, [this is] a racist government.[1]"

0202 Editor's Note:
At checkpoints, adults need to get off the buses and stand in line for inspection and then get on the bus again.
